Oulala Brings Its Daily Fantasy Sports Platform To Italy

It was in the year 2014 that the company Game Interaction Group Ltd. (GIG) was founded to provide a modular gaming platform certified in Italy. The platform not only includes a land-based and online affiliate management system, but also a player management and sports book platform.

Oulala has signed the deal with the company which will help to introduce daily fantasy sports into the Italian regulated market.  According to Francesco Areana, the CEO of Game Interaction Group, they were looking for something new to offer to their clients besides whatever they presently offer through their existing platform.

They thus look forward to daily fantasy sport to take off in Europe as Oulala is the market’s best daily fantasy football platform. Their unique player experience adds some spice to the existing love the fans have for the world’s most popular sport.

Oulala and DFS

Oulala’s special feature is in using big data to offer variables players can choose from while choosing their teams. When compared to other competing DFS platforms which offer only 5 to 16 criteria to choose, Oulala offers more than 70 criteria for players to analyze and choose from.

Oulala’s live coaching feature lets players make real-time changes to their fantasy lineups which makes Oulala the most realistic fantasy football game in the market. Moreover, these two features help increase the skill element and reduce the role of luck in DFS.

Oulala claimed that they are the first fantasy football game presented as a true skill game. While other DFS operators may contradict that statement, Oulala is working at rapidly expanding their global reach. Not only is Oulala licensed by the UK Gambling Commission, the company had also struck another deal with the Cardinal House Group to enter the Australasian and Indian subcontinent markets.

Graham Martin, former member of Oulala’s board of directors and chairman of Cardinal House group, had brokered the deal. The Australian registered B2B and B2C provider of online social gaming products, Cardinal House Group is also a real-money gambling platform which is applying for an Australian gaming license.

By doing all this, Oulala now proves to have made a distinct mark in daily fantasy football in Europe while their innovative DFS platform seems to have great potential in other markets too. Moreover, Oulala aims at becoming the first DFS licensee when Malta Gaming Authority launches their new skill gaming licenses.

A new beginning- Italian DFS

While GIG was awarded the Italian license on September 12, 2015 and launched as a major Italian operator in the market after two days, the two biggest players in the market, Sisal and Lottomatica had signed a deal with the DFS operator Mondogoal in mid-June. Even SNAI, Italy’s biggest gaming company had entered the market in June with DFS’s Che Bomber version.

Though the Italian DFS market may seem immature at the moment, the Euro 2016 football competition has given it a strong start. So Oulala could actually be entering the market at the right time.

Yes, Oulala is French but France still isn’t DFS savvy. While Oulala is based in Malta, it’s a French-founded company. Moreover, France still doesn’t have any major DFS providers. The only licensed operator to offer any form of DFS here is the online poker market leader Winamax.

Winamax had in fact launched a trial version of DFS, its Le Jeu de Entraineur (JDE) in time for only the period of the Euro 2016. They have now re-launched DFS (paywall) for the French soccer season.

The regulator ARJEL had recently released a ruling listing the criteria DFS players should follow while selecting their teams. While this may open the market, it’s not sure if the big data version Oulala uses meets these criteria.
